  • After 20 years, finally released. Huge personal respect to Joyrex @ WATMM
  • The original test pressing apparently had A, L, 01 and G sides. The naming on the 2014 digital release read A, B, C, G
  • The 2014 digital release mp3 tags state 1996 as the year (of ‘original’) release
  • Original vinyl did not contain track titles: RDJ dug up his old tapes in 2014 to name them as seen above. Some of the names reveal quickly-made titles (at the time) based on equipment or samples used within
  • ‘AFX tribal kik’ track sounds like a direct predecessor to ‘Metapharstic’ (1992) – containing both the ‘Aphex’ vocal sample and the same Kick drum (pitched-down). This puts ‘AFX tribal kik’ before or at 1992.
  • The start of ‘Squidge in the Fridge’ sounds inspired by Zsa Zsa Laboums ‘Something Scary’ (Belgian new beat) – a track allegedly DJ’d by RDJ a number of times at the legendary Bowgie. ‘Something Scary’ hails from 1988…. Zsa Zsa Laboum ‘Something Scary’ (►)
  • Mumbly is a cartoon dog character almost identical to Muttley (from Dastardly and Muttley), both by Hannah-Barbera (Wikipedia – Mumbly). So now we know.
  • Jazzphase sounds like a direct predecessor to Gak 1 from 1994
  • ‘Popeye’ – a short beat experiment – may have influenced Cylobs Beats & Breaks release
  • Further correlation with Aphex live dates and performances will be needed to establish clearer track dates
